Question: I’ve saved my work on the network but now I want to reach it at home or on my own computer / tablet / laptop. Can I do this?
Answer: You can easily access all the files you have saved to your UCLan network area (N: Drive).
Our Remote Access Service allows you to reach your own files and also a variety of software applications via any computer with internet access.
You can also use WebDav, an internet file access service. This works by mapping a drive on your own windows PC or Apple MAC to connect to your files and folders on the UCLan network.
You have a huge 1 Terabyte of personal storage space in the cloud with OneDrive for Business. This is also a great place to share and collaborate on Word / Excel / PowerPoint documents with your tutors and fellow students.
You can use this to store your Microsoft Office documents and access them on any of your devices once you have installed the Office apps. You can also store other files – PDFs, pictures, music if you like, just be aware when you leave the University you will lose access to this service so be prepared to move your data somewhere else, e.g. a personal Microsoft OneDrive account.
